Katy Jo has been successfully working with kids in the water for the past 8 years. She meets them where they are and approaches them from a place of respect and playfulness. Through play and gentle encouragement, Katy Jo gently guides kids to learn how to surrender to the water. In this process children discover how to engage with the water in a supportive way accessing their bodies’ wisdom on how to swim.
This summer, Katy Jo will be in town (from her home in Blue Ridge) Fridays through Mondays and is willing to meet participants at a local pool. She has access to metro YMCA pools & is willing to show up to other pools given that any entrance fee is covered by the participants.
Here’s the deal for getting your kids booked to swim with Katy Jo
In order to make it worth the effort, Katy Jo requests a minimum of $50 to visit a unique location
Lessons are $1/minute & can be split between children. For private lessons, a minimum of 15 minutes or maximum of 45 minutes is the range of what is most effective. (6 months – 3 years are typically best with 15-20 minutes, 3-5 years 30 minutes, 5-12 years 45 minutes)
There may be a travel fee included for locations that are OTP or north/west/south ITP. Katy Jo’s hub is Decatur.
To get signed up, please send a message about:
Where you want to meet?
Days/times that work best for your family consistently
Who are the swimmers?
How much of Katy Jo’s time would you like to reserve?
Cancellation Policies:
Barring catastrophe, Katy Jo agrees to show up at the location at the time agreed upon. Messaging about tardiness between both parties to make new arrangements is acceptable but cannot always be accommodated. The clock starts at the agreed upon time regardless of if the swimmer is ready poolside or not. Should Katy Jo arrive late, she will deduct the amount of time she is late from the cost of the lesson & give credit for the minutes lost to that or to future lessons. Participants are expected to pay for the time they’ve booked even if they do not show up. (if they cannot make a lesson, it can be gifted to someone else)
Atlanta weather is tricky. If Katy Jo drives all the way to a location and the lesson is cancelled due to weather/pool closure, she expects a $18 cancellation fee and will wait out bad weather for up to an hour IF her schedule allows. If the weather/pool does not allow for the lesson, cancellations will be communicated via text up to an hour before the lesson and there are no penalties for either party in these cases.
Catastrophe: death, debilitation, emergencies, etc are included. A child taking a late nap or being “fussy”, traffic, getting pulled over, sniffles/slight illness, etc are not included.
Should a child become ill/unable to attend, the most notice possible is appreciated. There is a $15 fee (as opposed the total cost) requested to cover Katy Jo’s time set aside for the lesson.
